About M.I.T

Hello there and welcome!

We are so excited to have you here and hope you join us in this little adventure to holiness.

Martyrs in Training (M.I.T) has been something we’ve wanted to create for years at this point, so finally getting started is just so cool.

What exactly is M.I.T, you ask?

Well, it’s a prayer group/spiritual training program of sorts, designed to help give you goals and guidance + encouragement and accountability in your prayer life. It’s meant to help you get strong in prayer, sacrifice and virtue much in the same way that lifting weights and jogging helps you get physically strong.

The name was chosen as a reminder that, though we likely won’t be called to physically lay down our life for God, we are still called to be White Martyrs of a sort, bloodlessly dying to ourselves through prayer, sacrifice and self-denial.

“If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me” Matt 16:24

Virtue can sometimes feel so vague. It’s easy to think “I want to be more virtuous” or even “I want to be more patient, more humble, more charitable, etc.,” but unless there is some sort of concrete plan to actually practice virtue, we very seldom make any progress.
Anything we want to get good at needs to be practiced, and that goes for virtue too.

I mean, If you don’t practice Courage and Honor every day in the little, ordinary, mundane things, how can you hope to be courageous and honorable when a big moment calls for it?
You can’t be brave in Big Things unless you learn to face small fears.
You can’t be kind and calm during crisis unless you already practice being kind and calm when you’re simply tired and frustrated.
You probably won’t bear persecution with patience and grace if you’re not trying to practice patience in a traffic jam.
You have to practice being the person you want to be.
Aim high.
Dont settle for being a ‘nice’ person or a ‘good’ person. Imitate the great people.
Imitate heroes.
