Hello all, and happy Advent!

Here we are in the great countdown to Christmas which always seems to zip by so fast. One of my goals this year is to simplify and slow down a little in the days leading up to the great Feast Day and really let the weight of Advent have its place in my heart. It’s easier said than done, I know.
This year my oldest child is close to three years old and I am excited to begin teaching her a little about the Advent and Christmas season. I am big into traditions and will definitely be utilizing all the things my family did when I was a kid.
My favorites are the Advent wreath, the paper rings to countdown the days till Christmas, and adding a piece of straw to the empty manger every time we do a sacrifice or act of charity to make it soft for Baby Jesus on Christmas. I know my daughter will love doing these things with me, but I think it will be helpful for me to have these visual reminders too.

Now, to get to the real point of this post: the prayer for the month!

I decided to go with Psalm 146. It seems so fitting for this time of year, doesn’t it?

Praise ye the Lord, because psalm is good: to our God be joyful and comely praise.
The Lord buildeth up Jerusalem: he will gather together the dispersed of Israel.
Who healeth the broken of heart, and bindeth up their bruises.
Who telleth the number of the stars: and calleth them all by their names.
Great is our Lord, an great is his power: and of his wisdom there is no number.
The Lord lifteth up the meek, and bringeth the wicked down even to the ground.
Sing ye to the Lord with praise: sing to our God upon the harp.
Who covereth the heaven with clouds, and prepareth rain for the earth.
Who maketh grass to grow on the mountains, and herbs for the service of men.
Who giveth to beasts their food: and to the young ravens that call upon him.
He shall not delight in the strength of the horse: nor take pleasure in the legs of a man.
The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him: and in them that hope in his mercy.
